It is a dark honey made from the honeydew secretions of the oak tree (mainly the leaves), with a distinctive aroma and a rich caramel flavour, and it is usually not particularly sweet. In some years the linden trees bloom at the same time, and then the flavour is outstanding. 

It is rich in antioxidant properties and contains large amounts of potassium, magnesium, phosphorus, iron and sodium.
