It has a soothing effect on bronchitis, cough and sore throat. It can stimulate the production of digestive enzymes, improve gastrointestinal motility and offer relief from indigestion, gas and bloating. It is used against gingivitis, and gargling with a thyme infusion gives very good results. 

To make an infusion, add one teaspoon to 250ml of hot water for 5-7 minutes in a covered container, so that its essential oil is released and retained. It is served hot or cold. 

The Cretan herbs are gathered by the Τσακαλάκη family in the mountain village of Nivritos in Crete.
